Points forts
Dachau Concentration Camp was the first that the Nazis opened in 1933 in Germany, originally intended to hold political prisoners only. Later it became a camp of forced labor with over 200,000 inmates during its 12 years of operation. The place became an “Academy of Terror”, a role model and a training ground of vast brutality, killing around 40,000 people from 34 nations before it was liberated in 1945 by the American army.

About Munich
Munich is the Bavarian capital, with a rebuilt old town, beer gardens, royal palaces and the Alps visible on clear days to the south.
Marienplatz, the main square, is overlooked by the neo-Gothic New Town Hall, whose Glockenspiel chimes with mechanical figures, and by the twin onion-domed towers of the Frauenkirche. The Viktualienmarkt close by is a food market with a beer garden. The Residenz, the former home of Bavaria's rulers, has lavish halls and a treasury, and Nymphenburg Palace stands in a park to the west.
Top-ranked sights in Munich: Neuschwanstein Castle, Marienplatz, Odeonsplatz.
