Points forts

Kolkata is known for its artistic flair, literature and the delicious food. There are so many places you can explore such as Kalighat Kali Temple, Victoria Memorial or simply watch the sunset by the Howrah Bridge. One of the 'to do' things when in Kolkata is dining with a Bengali family. And your search for an amazing Bengali 'cook and dine' experience ends with the Bengali family.

About Kolkata

Kolkata is the capital of West Bengal and the former capital of British India, a river city of colonial buildings, bookshops, sweets and Durga Puja.

Kolkata grew from three villages on the Hooghly River and was the capital of British India until 1911. Colonial landmarks include the Victoria Memorial, a white marble hall set in gardens, St Paul's Cathedral, and the Indian Museum, founded in 1814. The Howrah Bridge, a steel cantilever bridge over the Hooghly, carries enormous crowds, and hand-pulled rickshaws and trams still run in the streets.

Top-ranked sights in Kolkata: Mother House of the Missionaries of Charity, Victoria Memorial Hall, Howrah Bridge.
