Itinéraire

  1. After a short introduction and brief with what you can expect in the next few hours, we start our journey in the North Laine area. Hard to tell today, but it used to be Brighton's slum area. Now there are a lot of arts & crafts, small independent shops and lots of colours. Make sure to get your camera ready!

  2. The Brighton Dome is just around the corner from the North Laine, so we can easily walk to our next destination. Today the Brighton Dome is a place for art lovers and those interested in music, theatre, creative workshops and exhibitions. But once upon a time, it had a very different function. Join us to find out more.

  3. The North Laine shall not be confused with The Lanes. We continue our walking adventure to get to the oldest part of Brighton, which is at the same time also one that has seen a lot of development in recent years.

    Passage devant

  4. We then head towards the Royal Pavilion. Our very own 'Taj Mahal' style palace dominates the central city. Don't forget to bring your camera so you can feel like a royal in front of it!

    Passage devant

  5. After we leave The Lanes and have walked the seafront for a short bit, we get to our city's famous Pier. This is the place to be if you want to go for a ride or see Brighton from a different angle.

About Brighton

Brighton, on the Sussex coast, is a lively seaside city of pebble beach, Regency architecture, a pier and narrow shopping lanes.

Brighton grew from a fishing village into a fashionable resort in the eighteenth century, and in the early nineteenth the Prince Regent, later George IV, rebuilt his seaside villa as the Royal Pavilion, an Indian-style palace with domes and minarets over an interior in Chinese taste. Palace Pier, which opened in 1899, stretches out over the sea with arcades and rides, and the pebble beach, lined with deckchairs and cafés, runs below the seafront promenade.

Top-ranked sights in Brighton: Devil’s Dyke, Royal Pavilion, Brighton Dome.
