  6. Roald Amundsen was born in Borge near the town of Sarpsborg in 1872. He began studying medicine, but when his parents died, he interrupted the studies on the contrary to devote himself to polar research.

Tromsø is a Norwegian city well inside the Arctic Circle, on an island among fjords and peaks, known for the northern lights and the midnight sun.

Tromsø stands on an island in northern Norway, linked to the mainland by a bridge and a tunnel, with jagged peaks rising across the sound. Founded in the eighteenth century, it grew as a base for Arctic hunters and explorers, and the Polar Museum recalls expeditions that set out from the harbour. The Arctic Cathedral, with its angled glass front, stands across the bridge, and wooden houses fill the old centre.
