Itinerary

  1. Gobustan Reserve. The largest collection of rock paintings-petroglyphs made over thousands of years, bride kidnapping, hunting, fishing, rituals and dances in which almost the entire tribe participates - all this is captured. At the foot of Mount Boyuk-Dash, Livus Maximus, a centurion of the XII Lightning Legion (in the 1st century AD), left an "autograph", which turned out to be the easternmost of the inscriptions made by the Romans. There are short sayings in Arabic: "Came, prayed, left" and even images of men in turbans.

    2 hAdmission included

  2. Mud volcanoes. Already along the way, you will be able to notice small volcanic cones, which are the hallmark of the region. Sometimes you can see smoke or the bubbling of clay even from afar.

  3. The ancient Bibi-Heybat mosque. The pearl of Islamic architecture.

    20 min

  4. In 1846, an oil well was drilled on the territory of the oldest oil field in the suburbs of Baku - Bibi-Heybat. We will see oil pumps, reminiscent of Azerbaijan's rich oil history.

About Baku

Baku is Azerbaijan's capital on the Caspian Sea, where a walled medieval old town sits beside oil-era mansions and glass towers shaped like flames.

The walled Old City, Icherisheher, is a UNESCO-listed maze of lanes with the Maiden Tower and the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, both medieval. Beyond the walls, grand mansions from the oil boom of the late nineteenth century line the streets, and a long boulevard runs beside the Caspian. The three Flame Towers glow on the skyline, and Zaha Hadid's curving Heydar Aliyev Centre is a landmark of modern architecture.

Top-ranked sights in Baku: Bibi-Heybat Mosque (Bibiheybet Mescidi), Yanar Dag, Baku Old City (Icherisheher).
