Itinerary

  1. Shamakhi’s greatest landmark is Juma Mosque, one of Azerbaijan’s largest and most lavish places of worship. While the current structure was reconstructed in 2013, the earliest version was built way back in 743AD, making this the second oldest mosque in the Caucasus and the oldest in Azerbaijan. Since then it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, most notably during the devastating earthquake that reduced Shamakhi to rubble in 1859 and later by inter-ethnic clashes in 1918. Besides discovering its historical and religious significance, you can enjoy simply basking in the site’s elegance and tranquility.

  2. Nohur Lake is a beautiful natural lake located in the northern part of Azerbaijan, surrounded by a dense forest. It is a popular tourist destination due to its picturesque landscape, which includes crystal-clear waters, verdant forests, and rugged mountains in the distance. The lake is a great place for outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, and camping, and visitors can also enjoy a scenic boat ride or picnic by the water's edge. The area around Nohur Lake is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including rare bird species and endemic plant life, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts.

  3. The Seven Beauties Waterfall is located in the Vandam village of Azerbaijan, near the border with Georgia. It is a popular tourist attraction due to its stunning natural beauty, consisting of seven tiers of cascading waterfalls that drop over 70 meters in total. Visitors can enjoy a scenic hike through the surrounding forest to reach the waterfall and explore the picturesque pools and streams that surround it. The name "Seven Beauties" comes from a poem by the famous Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi, which describes a prince's journey to visit seven princesses, each representing a different virtue or quality.

  4. Tufandag Mountain Resort is a popular tourist destination located in Gabala, Azerbaijan. It is known for its network of four cable cars that take visitors up to the top of Tufandag Mountain, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The resort is a popular destination for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports, with slopes and trails suitable for all levels of experience. About Baku

Baku is Azerbaijan's capital on the Caspian Sea, where a walled medieval old town sits beside oil-era mansions and glass towers shaped like flames.

The walled Old City, Icherisheher, is a UNESCO-listed maze of lanes with the Maiden Tower and the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, both medieval. Beyond the walls, grand mansions from the oil boom of the late nineteenth century line the streets, and a long boulevard runs beside the Caspian. The three Flame Towers glow on the skyline, and Zaha Hadid's curving Heydar Aliyev Centre is a landmark of modern architecture.

Top-ranked sights in Baku: Bibi-Heybat Mosque (Bibiheybet Mescidi), Yanar Dag, Baku Old City (Icherisheher).
