Highlights

Access and Intimacy: The tuk tuk, agile and compact, expertly navigates the narrow streets and picturesque neighborhoods where larger buses and cars simply cannot go. This grants you an intimate and genuine view of local life, taking you through bustling markets, historic residences, and hidden city corners. Multisensory Experience: Unlike an enclosed vehicle, the tuk tuk offers a completely open-air experience. Feel the warmth of the sun, hear the street music and chatter, smell the aromas of local cuisine, and interact directly with the city's environment. This is a tour that engages all your senses. Focus on History and Culture: Local guides, often the tuk tuk drivers themselves, are true storytellers. They share personal insights and deep knowledge about the architecture (from the Iron Train Station to the Central Market), the history of independence, and the Mozambican soul, turning every turn into a living lesson.

About Maputo

Maputo is the capital of Mozambique, a seaside city of tree-lined avenues, Portuguese-era buildings, lively markets and fresh prawns.

Maputo sits on a bay of the Indian Ocean in the far south of Mozambique, and until 1976 it was called Lourenço Marques. Its grid of wide avenues is lined with jacaranda and acacia trees and with colonial buildings of the early twentieth century, among them the domed railway station and the City Hall. The old Fortress, a stone fort begun in the eighteenth century, stands near the port, and the Central Market is a large hall of fruit, fish and spices.

Top-ranked sights in Maputo: Feira de Artesanato, Flores e Gastronomica (FEIMA), Maputo Special Reserve (Reserva Especial de Maputo), Maputo Central Market.
