Itinerary

  1. We do our best to accommodate dietary requirements, allergies, and food preferences, including vegetarian and vegan options. However, Lao cuisine often uses ingredients such as fish sauce, fermented fish, meat-based broths, and shared cooking equipment. For this reason, suitable alternatives cannot always be guaranteed at every stop. Please let us know about any dietary requirements when booking so we can advise you and plan accordingly.

  2. Walk on the grounds of Wat Visounarath, one of Luang Prabang’s oldest and most historic Buddhist temples. Built in the early 16th century, the temple is known for its distinctive Lao architecture and the unusual round That Makmo, or “Watermelon Stupa,” on its grounds. During the visit, learn about the role of Buddhism in daily Lao life and take a quiet moment to appreciate this important part of Luang Prabang’s cultural heritage. Note: Appropriate clothing is required to enter the temple grounds. The stop can be skipped without issues, if those requirements are not met.

About Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang is a small royal town in northern Laos on the Mekong, with gilded temples, French colonial houses, morning alms-giving and nearby waterfalls.

Luang Prabang sits on a peninsula where the Nam Khan river joins the Mekong, ringed by green mountains. It was the royal capital of the Lao kingdom until 1975, and its whole old centre is a World Heritage site, a mix of Lao temples and French colonial shophouses. Wat Xieng Thong, built in the 16th century, has sweeping roofs and glass mosaics, and the former Royal Palace now serves as the national museum.

Top-ranked sights in Luang Prabang: Kuang Si Falls (Tat Kuang Si), Pak Ou Caves, Whisky Village (Ban Xang Hai).
