Itinerary
People have loved the land of multi-coloured mountains since ancient times. It was here that the Great Silk Road once passed through, rich caravans roamed and amazing people, brave and courageous, lived. Ancient fortresses and holy places are silent witnesses of everything that happened here. You will enjoy the wonderful natural landscapes and be amazed by the unique colours of the Sarafat Range. You will keep as a souvenir gorgeous photos of agate mountains, and if you wish, you can collect real onyx stones, a type of agate.
The road to Gechresh is breathtakingly beautiful and picturesque, with trees on both sides of the road, so tall that their crowns intertwine to form a natural tunnel. What can I say? Gechresh is a beautiful place with absolutely stunning nature, where the forests are replaced by mountain landscapes, the air is clear and the icy water will make even the most tired traveller cheer up. From Gechresh forest to Khinalig village you will have several stops, where you can get acquainted with nature, enjoy the clean air and take photos.
Located at an altitude of 2,450 metres above sea level, 57 kilometres from the district centre, Khinalig is considered one of the highest mountain villages not only in Azerbaijan but also in Europe. This area, included by UNESCO in the list of World Heritage Sites, is compared to an open-air museum. Khinalig, called "Island among mountains", is located 65 km from the district centre. Built of cobblestones and arranged along the slope, the houses resemble a multi-storey building. .

About Baku
Baku is Azerbaijan's capital on the Caspian Sea, where a walled medieval old town sits beside oil-era mansions and glass towers shaped like flames.
The walled Old City, Icherisheher, is a UNESCO-listed maze of lanes with the Maiden Tower and the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, both medieval. Beyond the walls, grand mansions from the oil boom of the late nineteenth century line the streets, and a long boulevard runs beside the Caspian. The three Flame Towers glow on the skyline, and Zaha Hadid's curving Heydar Aliyev Centre is a landmark of modern architecture.
Top-ranked sights in Baku: Bibi-Heybat Mosque (Bibiheybet Mescidi), Yanar Dag, Baku Old City (Icherisheher).
