About Hebron

Hebron, al-Khalil in Arabic, is a large hill city in the southern West Bank, known for the Ibrahimi Mosque, glassware, pottery and grapes.

Hebron stands in the Judean hills of the southern West Bank at about 900 metres, roughly 30 km south of Jerusalem, and is one of the largest cities in the territory. At the heart of its old town is the Ibrahimi Mosque, also known as the Cave of the Patriarchs, built over the traditional burial place of Abraham and his family and sacred to Muslims, Jews and Christians. The old town has Mamluk-era stone buildings, vaulted lanes and a covered market, and was listed by UNESCO in 2017.
