Nalaikh (Mongolian: Налайх) is one of the nine districts in the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar. Once a coal-mining town, Nalaikh is divided into eight subdistricts, including Shokhoi, Arjanchivlan, Terelj holiday center, and other residential areas. It also encompasses a former Soviet military cantonment, complete with an airfield
In 1990, The Association of Believers of Nalaikh District named The Sain Nomun Monastery "Ulsiit Nomiin Khurden." Later, in 1992, as the Monastery expanded, Elder Lamas appointed Ven. Dr. Negrui Sainbuyan as the Bishop, leading to a relocation and a name change to Sain Nomun Monastery. The new facility's construction included religious studies for preteens in preparation for Monastery management. Sain Nomun Monastery engages in Religious Customs, Ministry, Secondary Education, and Religious Education, covering Philosophy, Humanities, and Creative Arts. Public meditation & yoga are also offered. The Secondary School aligns with Mongolian Public Education System standards, providing a holistic education focused on professional management and upholding traditional customs and morals.
The Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex, located 54 km from Ulaanbaatar City, offers a stunning natural backdrop along the Tuul River. This historical site, where Chinggis Khan's golden whip was discovered, now houses a remarkable 40-meter-tall stainless steel statue of Chinggis Khaan on horseback, the world's largest equestrian statue. Inside the statue, there are facilities like a restaurant, a souvenir shop, two museums, and a conference hall. Visitors can reach the top using an elevator or stairs, enjoying a panoramic view of the picturesque landscape from the head of the horse. Depending on the package you select, you can indulge in activities such as horse and camel riding, along with the unique experience of holding a real eagle with proper safety equipment. About Ulaanbaatar
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia's capital on the Tuul River, is a high, cold city of Buddhist monasteries, Soviet squares and nomadic traditions.
Ulaanbaatar lies at around 1,350 metres in a valley below Bogd Khan mountain, and is among the coldest capitals in the world. It grew from a movable monastery town, and Gandan Monastery, still a working Buddhist centre, holds a tall gilded statue of Avalokiteshvara. Sükhbaatar Square, the central plaza, is dominated by the Government Palace with a large seated statue of Chinggis Khan.
Top-ranked sights in Ulaanbaatar: Genghis Khan Statue Complex (Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex), Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, Zaisan Memorial.
