Itinerary
March 5th, 1957 marked the opening of the largest and oldest of the six museums under the administration of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, which was established by the Duchess of Kent Princess Marina. The artifacts in the archeology section span from the recent past to the Stone Age. Those on permanent exhibition at the ethnography gallery include chief's regalia, indigenous Ghanaian musical instruments, gold weights, beads, traditional textiles, stools and pottery. There are also items from other African nations that were obtained via trade. Senufo masks from Ivory Coast, wooden Zulu figures, and beaded items from Southern Africa are a few examples. Bushongo carvings from the Congo and ancient Ife bronze heads from Nigeria are also present. The modest but striking art gallery's displays mostly feature modern paintings created in oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, and collages by contemporary Ghanaians. In addition to these, there are sculptures made of various materials.
In the heart of Accra's city, Makola Market is a well-known local marketplace with several indoor and outdoor spaces for shopping. We would like to introduce you to the bustling Makola Market, the biggest outdoor market in Accra, where you can interact with the women vendors. while you take in the vibrant, happy hustle of the people. While taking pictures, shop and take advantage of everything the area has to offer.
Following Ghana's independence from the British in 1957, Kwame Nkrumah was elected as the country's first prime minister and president of the Gold Coast. The square was built by Kwame Nkrumah as a way to commemorate the country's independence. Queen Elizabeth II was visiting at the same time. When building was completed in 1961, the area was dubbed Black Star Square. The Independence Arch, Black Star Gate, and Liberation Day Monument are among the monuments honoring Ghana's independence struggle that are located in Independence Square in Accra, Ghana. Ghana's Independence Day parade takes place in Black Star Square on March 6th of each year. The Golden Jubilee parade, which commemorated Ghana's 50 years of independence from British colonial rule, was especially noteworthy. The Golden Jubilee celebration was spearheaded by President John Kuffour and took place on March 6, 2007. It also serves as the venue for all significant national festivals and public gatherings.
The largest craft market in the nation is called Center for National Culture. You can bargain and shop for souvenirs among the vendors there. You can also learn how to play an extra drum and other local instruments from the locals.
This is the home, library and final resting place of American-born crusader for social justice, William Edward Burghardt DuBois... A library named after the late W.E.B. DuBois is called the Du Bois Centre. The center is made up of an Open Air Theatre that hosts intellectual seminars, lectures, and workshops in addition to cultural events, and a museum with artifacts and his personal library.

About Accra
Accra, Ghana's capital on the Gulf of Guinea, mixes colonial forts, independence monuments, busy markets, beach bars and a famed music scene.
Accra lines the Atlantic coast, and its older districts keep the character of a trading port. In Jamestown, an old fishing quarter, a lighthouse stands beside Dutch and British forts, and boxing gyms spill onto the lanes. Black Star Square, with its Independence Arch, and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park honour Ghana's first president and independence in 1957, while the W. E. B. Du Bois Centre remembers the writer who spent his final years here.
Top-ranked sights in Accra: Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Memorial Park, W. E. B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture, Makola Market.
