Cathedral Rock Trail is among the most popular hikes in Sedona, and it's easy to see why. Cathedral Rock dominates the horizon and is without a doubt the most iconic formation in Sedona. Sedona changed forever in 1923, when filmmaker Zane Grey arrived with a film crew and a dream. Here, Zane shot the silent film Call of the Canyon, a western about a soldier returning from war. He wanted creative freedom he couldn’t get in LA, and was captivated by Sedona’s landscape.
A must-see attraction. This jaw-dropping chapel looms dramatically over the rocky landscape and offers incredible, panoramic views from within. It was designed to generate the same sense of awe as the Empire State Building, and it absolutely delivers!

About Sedona
Sedona is an Arizona town surrounded by red sandstone buttes and canyons, a landscape of rock formations, hiking trails and creekside cottonwoods.
Sedona lies at the mouth of Oak Creek Canyon in northern Arizona, at about 1,300 metres, surrounded by red sandstone buttes and spires with names such as Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. The rock gets its colour from iron oxide, and it glows orange and crimson at sunset. Many believe certain spots hold spiritual energy, called vortexes, and the town has a New Age following.
