  • 5Great tour with Alessio

My husband and I loved our tour with Alessio! He collected us from our villa which was a fantastic start. He’s very knowledgeable and engaging, and he chose an excellent range of places for us to visit including his own place at the end. Super special to be able to taste his wines and learn more about winemaking from someone living it! Superb English and he’s also someone with a good sense of humour who is very easy to spend time with (something I’m always a little worried about when spending the whole day with a stranger - not a problem happily!). A great, authentic tour and highly recommend.

  • 5Excellent tour with Alessio!

I couldn’t recommend this tour enough! I did 2 days of wine tasting with the amazing Alessio as my guide. One focused on Barolo, the other on Barbaresco. Also had an opportunity to try Marin Falcone, Alessio’s wine, which was excellent. He arranged everything, altered the itinerary on the fly when he noticed I was interested in stopping or photographing. Always on time and everything perfect.

  • 5Excellent full-day Barolo/Barbaresco wine tour

We had an outstanding experience on this day trip! Our guide was Luca, who has lived in the area his whole life and has extensive knowledge of the geography and the wines. Luca took us to three wineries in Barolo and Barbaresco, perfectly selected to give us a representative sampling of the different terroirs and the varying styles of wine produced here. Although we have drunk wines from this region many times, we learned more in one day than we had in years of wine tasting back home. In addition to being very knowledgeable, Luca was a thoroughly delightful companion to spend the day with. I highly recommend this experience.

  • 5An excellent guide to the Barolo wine region - highly recommended

We arranged a full day tour to include a couple of Barolo producers, separated by lunch at a local restaurant. Alessio was a charming, fluent in English and a very knowledgeable guide. The first visit was to Silvano Bolmida in the morning, a small family producer, where the son of the owner, Francesco talked through the activities and wines produced. We saw their production facilities and spent time tasting and discussing 4 wines. A gentleman, passionate about their wines - we had a fascinating discussion which helped us get an overview about the Barolo wine region. An excellent and good value lunch was taken at a local restaurant in La Morra, after which we visited the final producer of the tour, Paolo Scavino. There, after a tour of their production facilities and their cellars, we were able to try 6 different wines, from their humble but excellent Dolcetto d’Alba to their flagship Barolo ‘Bric del Fiasc’. Alessio is a producer in his own right and as a consequence knew both of these wine makers personally, as well as having an excellent knowledge of the regions wine activities and history. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

  • 5Family excursion to Alba

Alessio is a superb guide and his knowledge of winemaking and the region made this experience educational and fun. The beauty of the area and the historical significance of the region made this a must do while in the area. Alessio chose great family wineries to visit and the owners were so informative and welcoming. Alessio gave us great tips for dinner and we appreciated he and our driver for the day. Highly recommend Alessio!

About Langhe-Roero and Monferrato

The Langhe, Roero and Monferrato are the vine-covered hills of southern Piedmont, home to Barolo and Barbaresco wines, hilltop villages and white truffles.

These three areas of southern Piedmont form a landscape of rolling hills, vineyards and castle-topped villages, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2014. The Langhe, around Alba, is the home of Barolo and Barbaresco, red wines made from the nebbiolo grape. The Roero lies across the Tanaro river, and Monferrato, further east, reaches Asti and the Barbera and Moscato vineyards.
