  • 5Spectacular Hike

Breathtaking Views and an Unforgettable Adventure! An incredible experience hiking the Matanuska Glacier! We had beautiful weather, stunning views, and fantastic guides who were knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive to safety. The spectacular blue ice formations made every step worthwhile! Highly recommend it!

  • 4Amazing Guide, Advertising Photos a Bit Misleading

We had a truly excellent guide, and learned a lot about the local area and had a wonderful group lunch at a nearby lodge. While the photos may give the impression of pristine beauty, be prepared to learn about climate change and the realities of glaciers receding. I think our tour, 907 Tours, could incorporate more about this in the tour information in advance before you book, to give you a more realistic understanding of all that you will see. You need to understand that you get to the glacier by crossing a long, seasonal floating pylon bridge with sharp metal tread that is dangerous to fall on. The bridge over the silt lake gets longer every year because the glacier is melting and receding.

  • 5Glacier hike with ice cleats

This glacier hike was amazing! The ice cleats that they give you to wear over your shoes gives you great traction. Our guide was Ady, and you could tell she was geniunely pumped to be out exploring with our group. 100 percent would do it again!

  • 5Nothing Compares

Hiking on a Glacier, drinking from it and cutting out a piece was a once in a lifetime experience. Our tour guide was fantastic and the trip up was filled with breathtaking pictures and landscapes. Topping everything off with lunch from a cabinlike restaurant not too far from the glacier was equally impressive.

About Anchorage

Anchorage is Alaska's largest city, set on Cook Inlet beneath the Chugach Mountains, with coastal trails, wildlife and long summer daylight.

Anchorage sits between Cook Inlet and the Chugach Mountains in south-central Alaska, and it is the state's largest city. It began as a railway construction camp in 1915, and the Good Friday earthquake of 1964, among the strongest ever recorded, reshaped it; Earthquake Park marks the story. The Anchorage Museum covers art, history and science, and the Alaska Native Heritage Center presents the state's Indigenous cultures.
