After visiting Kokuzo Shrine, one of the oldest shrines in Kumamoto Prefecture and known as a power spot, you will be amazed at the size of the natural monument, the "Great Cedar of Teno. About Aso
Aso is a city in Kumamoto Prefecture, central Kyushu, set inside the vast Aso caldera around the active volcano of Mount Aso.
The Aso caldera is one of the largest in the world, and its floor is a broad plain of farms and villages inside high rim walls. Mount Aso's central cones are still active, and their smoke can be seen from across the caldera. Aso Shrine, an old shrine dedicated to the mountain's gods, stands in the town.
