There is always a chance to meet one of the gorilla families while climbing without paying the gorilla permit. On your way up, you’ll be trekking through a number of different vegetation zones after passing through bamboo forest, the preferred food of golden monkeys and mountain gorillas.

About Kigali
Kigali is Rwanda's capital, a tidy city on green hills in the middle of the country, with memorials, craft markets and routes to gorilla country.
Kigali spreads across several hills in the heart of Rwanda, at about 1,500 metres, so the air is mild all year. The Kigali Genocide Memorial tells the story of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and honours those buried there.
