Itinerario

  1. Ivuka Arts Center is an arts center and art gallery located in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda.

    20 min

  2. The site in Rwanda's capital city Kigali where ten Belgian UN peacekeepers were murdered by the Hutu extremists in order to provoke a withdrawal of the UN forces, which then cleared the way for the full scale of the Rwandan genocide to unfold.

    30 min

  3. Nyamirambo Women’s Center (NWC), a Rwandan NGO, was launched at the end of 2007 by 18 Rwandese women living in Nyamirambo, Kigali. Together they created a project which aimed to address gender-based violence, gender inequality and discrimination. Today, NWC’s mission is to provide education and vocational training to women who do not have the means to pay for such training on their own, so that they can gain better opportunities for employment.

    30 min

  4. Colorful car free zone Street, Kigali! Commonly known as the capital point of the city, Biryogo is known for the variety of cultures and foods.

    30 min

  5. The Kigali City Market is a great place to wonder through. Hey o some extent the upper levels are much like a mall with the ground floor having vendors of a various types including food and household items. Traders are engaging and don’t overly hassle visitors, taking photos is easy and to here is a wide range to see. A few places to eat and drink too. This is not a tourist spot so no real curios and so on, but fruit, tea, coffee, honey and so on for sale if that’s what you’re looking for. Prices were very reasonable and not much room for negotiation but also less pressure to buy. A great place to explore - no real need for a guide or a ‘local’ to accompany you as it’s safe, well light and has great security.

  • 5Educational, interesting, fun

Our guide, Gloria was very knowledgeable. She did a great job telling us all about the city, we visited a woman’s center and got to stop and meet some of the women working. She had a wonderful sense of humor and kept us laughing all the way. Kigsli is a fascinating city.

About Kigali

Kigali is Rwanda's capital, a tidy city on green hills in the middle of the country, with memorials, craft markets and routes to gorilla country.

Kigali spreads across several hills in the heart of Rwanda, at about 1,500 metres, so the air is mild all year. The Kigali Genocide Memorial tells the story of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and honours those buried there. The Kandt House Museum holds natural history displays in the house of the German colonial resident Richard Kandt, and the Inema Arts Centre shows contemporary Rwandan art.

Top-ranked sights in Kigali: Kigali Genocide Memorial, Volcanoes National Park.
