The Corniche curves along Doha Bay for kilometres, with views of the West Bay skyline and wooden dhows moored in the harbour. At its southern end, the Museum of Islamic Art, designed by I. M. Pei, rises from the water and holds treasures from across the Islamic world, with a waterfront park beside it.

Souq Waqif, a restored market of mud-rendered walls and wooden beams, is busy in the evenings with spice and textile stalls, falcon shops and restaurants. The National Museum of Qatar, shaped like a desert rose crystal, tells the country's story, while Katara Cultural Village and the marinas of the Pearl add more to explore.

Beyond the city, sand dunes roll down to the sea at Khor Al Adaid, the Inland Sea, a classic dune drive. Food ranges from machboos rice and grilled fish to Levantine and Indian dishes. The cooler months from November to March are the most pleasant, while summers are extremely hot and humid.
