Next stop, a mezcal tasting (the Oaxacan spirit of choice). Last stop: in hand – your beverage of choice — as you sit on a swing under a beach hut and the sand tickles your toes. Of course, you’ll have a spectacular ocean view.

Huatulco is a planned resort on the Pacific coast of Oaxaca, developed from the 1980s along a series of nine bays with sheltered beaches and clear water. Behind the coast lie the foothills of the Sierra Madre del Sur. Santa Cruz Bay, the main one, has a marina, a small waterfront of restaurants and a pier where cruise ships dock, while Tangolunda Bay is the resort and golf area.
