About Tbilisi

Tbilisi, de hoofdstad van Georgië, ligt langs een rivierkloof onder een fort, met oude huizen met balkons, zwavelbaden en gedurfde moderne bouwwerken.

De oude stad ligt langs de Mtkvari, met smalle straten vol houten balkons met houtsnijwerk, kerken en wijnbars. Abanotubani, de badwijk, wordt bekroond door bakstenen koepels boven zwavelbronnen, en de muren van het Narikala-fort kijken over alles uit, te bereiken met de kabelbaan of een steile wandeling.
