2. The mysterious sphinx The Great Sphinx in Giza is a mythical creature with the body of a lion (the power) and the head of a human being (the prudence). It is the oldest known monumental sculpture in all of Egypt and is generally believed to have been built during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre (approx. 2558-2532 BC).
