The Sunwapta River is the only Class III white water offered in Jasper National Park. The river is glacial fed and is great for first time rafters if you are looking to paddle hard, get soaked, and have a lot of fun! The river trip itself begins with a float where crews can practice their paddling technique before the show begins. Once the rapids start ,they just build and build until The Whopper soaks everyone just before the take out. All trips are in 6 person-guided rafts and all the necessary equipment is provided.

5A really great experience!
We had a really great time on this trip. The guides were all friendly, professional and enthusiastic, creating a great atmosphere. Special mention for Joe who was the guide on our raft -speaking as someone who has never even worn a wetsuit before and was truly terrified before the trip, Joe was a really reassuring presence throughout, encouraging and great to chat to. All the staff clearly love their jobs which shines through. They also show great care when it comes to maintaining the cleanliness of the clothing and equipment provided. Photographs at the end of the experience are well-priced and a lovely memento.

5Best experience ever!
We had an absolutely incredible experience rafting with this company! From start to finish, everything was organized, professional, and so much fun. The scenery was breathtaking, and the rapids were the perfect mix of excitement and beauty. A huge thank you to our guide, Charles! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel completely safe while still making the trip exciting. His sense of humor and passion for what he does really made the experience unforgettable. He shared interesting facts about the area, kept everyone engaged, and made sure we had an amazing time on the water. This was easily one of the highlights of our honeymoon, and we would recommend this rafting company to anyone visiting Jasper.
5Grade 10 fun on a Grade 3 trip
We did the Grade III trip in July with our two daughters, 16 and 14. It was perfectly in terms of intensity and fun and without doubt a great thing to do with the family. If you want the full experience sit at the front of the boat and if you want to get slightly less wet, sit at the back. The views are spectacular, the water was constantly fast and bumpy except for the first 15 minutes or so. Cash was the perfect guide, an archetype of Canadian outdoor enthusiast. A Mr Motivator in neoprene, who was great at pumping up the group. Thanks Cash!

Greatest experience ever!! It’s a must do again 😍 Felix was our guide and the funniest guy alive. I went with some of my kids and it was the time of my life. Highly recommend to anyone who’s thinking about going.
5A must do if in Jasper!
We had an amazing morning on the water. This was our first time whitewater rafting and we feel that this was a wonderful introduction to this activity. The vibes from the instructors was great and really helped to build for a good atmosphere on the tour. The safety demonstration made us feel at ease and our guide MJ was excellent in both her instruction and direction while out on the rapids. I cannot recommend this trip enough. We booked directly with Jasper Rafting Adventures through their website. I had a few questions which they answered via WhatApp. All in all, an activity not to be missed if you’re in the area!

- Please arrive 15 minutes before your trip time. It is a ~45 minute drive from Jasper to the Self-Drive pickup location, so please plan accordingly to ensure you arrive on time. The Self-Drive pickup location is the Highway 93 rest stop located 300m south of the Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge.

Out of respect for other guests, we ask that all participants arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time. Please note the pick up time for your location. There will be no refund provided if you arrive after departure time or do not show for the date and time of your scheduled trip.

Jasper sits at about 1,060 metres on the Athabasca River, ringed by peaks, in the largest national park of the Canadian Rockies.
