  3. Prejean, a surname of French origin, is the founding family's name. Prejean Winery was founded by James and Elizabeth (Jim & Libby) Prejean. Jim Prejean was born in Carencro, Louisiana which is part of the French-speaking area of Louisiana. Prejean is a French Cajun name that is most common in southwest Louisiana, but more unusual elsewhere in the United States. Prejean Winery currently has approximately 30 acres of active vineyards in which we grow thirteen varieties of grapes. Vinifera grown include Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Hybrid varieties grown include Traminette, Vignoles, Cayuga, Valvin Muscat, Marechal Foch, Noiret and Corot Noir. All Prejean Wines are estate grown and produced.

A delightful lunch is available at Ventosa's Cafe Toscana on the Small & Mighty plus Lunch tour. 5. Cane & VIne Wine Cellars Mike and Jayne Gibbs, a husband-and-wife team, opened Can & Vine Wine Cellars in 2025, expanding their portfolio alongside Toast Winery on the south end of Seneca Lake. One wine Mike is particularly excited about is his bone-dry Cayuga White. While this varietal is often produced in a sweeter style, the 2023 vintage was so exceptional when made bone-dry that he chose to bottle it. He also enjoys crafting pétillant naturel (pét-nat) wines. Can & Vine will offer a Dry Sparkling Rosé of Marquette made in the pét-nat style.

  6. Arrive at this charming pioneering property on 100 acres of the northwestern bank of Seneca Lake. Taste through the crafted portfolio of Anne & John Martini. With the help of friends and family, they planted the first grapes, all hybrid varieties, in 1973. An array of wine is produced – from dry to dessert – with a range of tastes designed to please connoisseurs and casual aficionados alike.

  • 5Newbies on our first wine tour

Race our driver was super nice and very informative. All the vineyards were beautiful. We had plenty of time at each to look around, shop, & take our time in tasting. A couple of the wineries were pretty liberal when they poured! We would definitely do it again.

  • 5Lovely Day

From the moment we were collected, by mini van at our holiday home, we knew we were in safe hands with Ron. Ron was knowledgeable and keen to teach us all about the Finger Lake area & all it has to offer. Ron is an absolute gentleman and I would highly recommend taking one of these winery tours. The 4 wineries we visited were all excellent with various flight tasting options, at each vineyard, we had a thoroughly enjoyable day.  Excellent value for money.

  • 5Donna to the rescue!

We did the Castle Views and windy waters tour with 4 stops. Our guide Donna was great, particularly as another guide was scheduled for our tour but cancelled due to health issues minutes before pickup. Crush did their best to find another driver and Donna came to the rescue! Donna was knowledgeable and friendly. She kept us on schedule and also gave us space to enjoy the tasting experiences. Would have booked another tour if I had a longer stay. She had waters in the van for us-greatly appreciated.

About Syracuse

Syracuse is a central New York city on Onondaga Lake and the Erie Canal, a former salt capital with a university hill, a lakeside park and heavy snow.

Syracuse lies at the northern end of the Finger Lakes region, beside Onondaga Lake, where salt springs once made it the Salt City. The Erie Canal ran through the middle of town, and the old Weighlock Building now houses the Erie Canal Museum. Armory Square, a district of restored brick warehouses, is lined with restaurants, and Syracuse University stands on a hill to the south-east.
