Itinerario
The Basilica, with its 100 feet underground archaeological complex, is one of the great treasures of the world, a place where it is possible to visit and experience different levels of Rome's past like nowhere else. Going down beneath the current church, you enter a 4th-century church that contains some of the most beautiful medieval frescoes in the world, dating from the 8th to the 11th century. Going even further down, you enter the 1st-century area with its Mithraic temple and, through a narrow alleyway, a large public building, around whose foundations flow the lost waters of ancient Rome. Above the excavations is the current 12th-century Basilica, with its magnificent mosaic and frescoes from the early Renaissance.
After visiting the fantastic basilica the walking tour will continue to the Colosseum, where, externally your guide will explain the history of one of the world's most famous monuments. Note: We will not enter the attraction. We will discuss to you the history of the Colosseum.

About Roma
Top-ranked sights in Roma: Colosseum, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel.
