A century later, the area became notorious for the Techatticup Mine, where violent disputes over ownership and labor resulted in routine killings. Despite its dark history, the mine produced millions of dollars in gold, silver, copper, and lead before flash flooding made the area uninhabitable. Today, visitors can explore the remnants of this once-thriving boomtown, including weathered buildings, machinery, and the old Texaco station.
