In evidenza
Pleasant tour in medieval history to discover unique monuments. The entrance to the Duomo will be unforgettable to admire all its magnificence and harmony. The history and ancient traditions of the kitchen will become very familiar to you, so much so that you can reproduce the recipes even at home. Sienese cuisine is patriarchal, it comes from the countryside. In many respects it is similar to the Tuscan one, but if we think of vegetable soups: in Siena they prepared them with a few more aromatic herbs, such as calamint, thyme, ginger, which give a symphony of smells and flavours. Here the dishes are called godende. The Sienese love everything that belongs to the table and its pleasures. All the toponymy here speaks of food, just think of the names of alleys such as Malcucinato or Salecotto. Not to mention the wine: in the province of Siena there are 5 D.O.C.G. and 14 D.O.C. 3-course lunch in a selected trattoria or tavern to savor the historic dishes of Siena. Included in the tour price.

Attention: regulated opening in Summer. It is a beautifully decorated marble floor, one of a kind in Italy as it consists of 56 panels of different sizes. The marble mosaic inlay and sgraffito floor cover the entire floor of the cathedral, making it the most ornate interior building in Italy. The marble came from nearby Carrara and Verona. About forty artists and craftsmen created the floor and worked on it from the 14th to the 16th century.
The Piccolomini library is a space built by order of Cardinal Francesco Piccolomini and built adjacent to the Siena Cathedral and contains more than 200 manuscripts kept in the Siena Cathedral, some of which date back to the 12th century.

About Livorno
Livorno is a working port on the Tuscan coast, with canals, a sea fortress, a chequered seafront terrace and the cacciucco fish stew.
Livorno became a major port when the Medici rulers of Florence built it up in the late sixteenth century, and they invited merchants of every faith and country, so the city mixes Greek, Jewish, Dutch and English heritage. The Fortezza Vecchia guards the old harbour, and the Monument of the Four Moors stands near the port. The Venezia Nuova quarter has canals crossed by small bridges.
Top-ranked sights in Livorno: Livorno Cruise Port (Livorno Terminal Crociere), Livorno Aquarium (Acquario di Livorno) , Mascagni Terrace (Terrazza Mascagni).
