Once at the top, follow the path along the impressive crater, enjoy the spectacular view of the Bay of Naples. Even though Vesuvius is a quiescent volcano, you're likely to see clouds of smoke rising from the crater. The experience requires good athletic condition. Make sure you bring drinks. There are several stops along the way to recover your energy before continuing towards the summit.
