In evidenza

Mushroom hunting excursions are available from September 15 until November 15 (weather permitting). We will use knives and sneakers (provided). During your time in Provence you will learn how to distinguish between edible and poisonous mushrooms. We will hunt for about 10 different varieties, including: ceps, chanterelle, golden chanterelle, mushroom hedgehog, blue stalk mushroom, Tricholoma myomyces, Saffron milk cap, white saddle, elfin saddle, and black trumpet. You'll discover the quiet, unspoiled forests of the area and enjoy the bucolic and relaxed atmosphere of Provence. You will need to be comfortable with that, you do not mind getting muddy.

About Avignon

Avignon is a walled Rhône city where the popes lived in the fourteenth century, known for its vast palace, a broken bridge and a summer theatre festival.

From 1309 to 1377 the popes governed the Catholic Church from Avignon, and the Palais des Papes, a huge Gothic fortress of pale stone, still rises above the old town. Medieval ramparts more than four kilometres long surround the centre. The Pont Saint-Bénézet, the Pont d'Avignon of the nursery song, stops halfway across the Rhône, with only four of its arches left.

Top-ranked sights in Avignon: Roussillon, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Pont du Gard.
