1. Take bus no. 1 (direction Kriens/Obernau) from Lucerne’s train station. After an 11-min. bus ride to the station "Kriens, Zentrum Pilatus" and a short walk, you reach the valley station in Kriens. The Panorama Gondolas take you to the middle station Fräkmüntegg in 30 min. where you can try the rope park or the Dragon Glider (own expenses). Change to the aerial cableway "Dragon Ride" to the top (5 min.).

2. From Pilatus Kulm, enjoy the panoramic views over Lake Lucerne and the Swiss Alps and either stay inside the panoramic gallery, relax on the terrace, climb one of the peaks or enjoy a local specialty in our restaurants (own expenses). The world's steepest cogwheel railway brings you back down to Alpnachstad in 35 min. Next to the valley station you take the public train back to Lucerne (20 min). The trip can also be done in the opposite direction, starting by train from Lucerne. In any case, check the timetable before your visit.

  Awesome experience , worth every cent. Our trip was unguided but it was very easy to get around. Highly recommended .

  This was an incredible experience! The views from the summit were breathtaking and the journey there was super fun. We loved the cogwheel back down to the train station and easily returned to Lucern with no complications. I HIGHLY recommend this experience 🏔️

• 4Beautiful day on the mountain, but no clear instructions on getting there

  Although a lovely visit to the mountain, the instructions on getting there are confusing. No clear signs on where to go. Expensive, but definitely worth visiting. Do the Toboggan ride as well!

  Everything went according to plan. We went train, cogwheel, cable car, gondola the bus. A little hard to find number 1 bus back to Lucerne. Signs are small and limited but we found it.

About Lucerne

Lucerne is a compact Swiss lake city with a covered wooden bridge, a medieval wall and a ring of mountains, in the heart of Switzerland.

Lucerne sits at the northern end of Lake Lucerne, where the Reuss River flows out under two old wooden bridges. The Chapel Bridge, with its stone water tower and painted roof panels, dates from the fourteenth century, although it was partly rebuilt after a fire in 1993. The old town has painted house fronts, squares and the twin-spired Jesuit church, and the Museggmauer, a wall with nine towers, closes it to the north.
