Built originally as a fortress surrounded by a massive wall with small windows which were used to shoot the enemies, Bran Castle proved to be a successful defense point. In the inner courtyard of the castle is a fountain used to provide water in case of siege. Bran Castle got its fame from the novel Dracula, written by Bram Stoker and Dracula movie.

  4. Finally you will go to Targoviste where you will visit the former royal residence where Vlad Tepes ruled. This is also the place where the battle from June 1462 took place between Vlad Tepes (Dracula) and Mehmed II the Sultan of the Otoman Empire. The battle ended with the defeat of the Ottoman army and in honor of his victory, Vlad Tepes built Chindia Tower which can be visited today.

Top-ranked sights in Bucarest: Palace of Parliament (Palatul Parlamentului), Revolution Square (Piata Revolutiei), Arcul de Triumf (Arch of Triumph).
