In evidenza
Kitesurfing is a quite new sport, it’s about riding on a modified surfboard while holding on to a specially designed kite, using the wind for propulsion. Thinking of the kite we can think of the Hawaiian, Brazilian or South African beaches and few can imagine that the most famous place for the practice of this sport in Europe is right in the province of Trapani and is called Stagnone.Stagnone natural reserve is the suggestive Marsala lagoon which includes the islands of Mozia, Isola Grande or Lunga, Schola and Santa Maria. Known to many for the herons the windmills and the amazing sunsets. The lagoon has an average depth of 30/40 cm so that you can come back by foot even if you are hundreds meters away from the shore and there are no waves or current even with strong wind. This combination of shallow and flat water and a very high percentage of windy days makes the lagoon one of the favorite destinations for kitesurfers from all over Europe.

About Trapani
Trapani is a Sicilian port on a sickle-shaped headland, with salt pans and windmills to the south, the hill town of Erice above and islands offshore.
Trapani occupies a thin sickle of land that juts into the sea on Sicily's western coast, and its old name, Drepanon, means sickle in Greek. The old town is a tight grid of lanes and Baroque churches ending at the Torre di Ligny, a tower on the tip of the headland. At Easter the Procession of the Mysteries carries groups of life-size figures through the streets, a tradition four centuries old.
Top-ranked sights in Trapani: Trapani and Paceco Salt Pans Natural Reserve (Riserva Naturale Integrale Saline di Trapani e Paceco), Bastione Conca, Ligny Tower (Torre di Ligny).
