• 4Amazing Sights, But Guide Fell Short

  A lovely day travelling from Jasper to Lake Louise, with stops at the Ice Explorer, Glacier Skywalk, Bow Lake and Athabasca Falls. The colour of Bow Lake is breathtaking, and the power of Athabasca Falls, even at the end of the seasonal melt, was amazing. Standing on a glacier is a fantastic experience. You don't really appreciate the scale until you're standing on it and then looking back at the landscape and seeing where you've been. Unfortunately, our guide was a little disappointing. There was very little commentary or storytelling throughout the journey, and we didn't feel she was particularly knowledgeable about the area. Much of the trip was spent in silence, which was unusual compared with the other tours we experienced in the Rockies. We also appeared to miss two of the advertised stops, the Weeping Wall and Crowfoot Glacier, which was disappointing. Overall, the attractions and scenery were fantastic, but more engaging guide would have made this a much better experience.

  Our guide was wonderful. We really appreciated his personal insights about the Jasper fire. The lunch was great as was all of the information about the country we drove through.

• 5Magical experience

  This tour from Jasper to Banff was all day and we saw such amazing sights and experienced the Columbia snowfields and glacier and skywalk. Morning tea and lunch provided. Our tour driver Shaun was great and so knowledgeable. We experienced the first snowfall of the season. Highly recommend

  The trip from Jasper to Banff was amazing. Our driver Sean was so knowledgeable and entertain and his stories of his life experiences made the tour very touching and real. We saw so much nature and the Columbia Icefields were amazing.

  Fantastic trip from Jasper down the beautiful Icefields parkway. Although it was a long day, our guide Aloo made sure we had plenty of stops to break up the journey. He also struck the perfect balance between providing commentary and giving people a break. He was an extremely personable and organised host and probably our favourite guide of our whole trip (and we have taken a lot of tours over the last 3 weeks!). The bus was comfortable and we had snacks, drinks and lunch on board. The visit to the glacier and skywalk were fun although it was a bit of a faff taking different buses but that wasn't down to Sundog who provided first class door to door service.

About Jasper

Jasper is a mountain town on the Athabasca River in Alberta, inside the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies, among glaciers, lakes and wildlife.

Jasper sits at about 1,060 metres on the Athabasca River, ringed by peaks, in the largest national park of the Canadian Rockies. The town grew around the railway in the early twentieth century, and elk graze on its lawns and wander its streets. The park, together with its neighbours, forms the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage site, and it is one of the largest dark-sky preserves in the world.
