As guests travel through the open landscapes of the lodge, they can experience the beauty of the Botswana bush, including rolling hills, open valleys, and natural vegetation. During the drive, visitors may encounter a variety of animals that live in the area. While Big Valley Game Lodge does not focus on large predators, guests can see animals such as zebras, ostriches, antelope, and other wildlife in their natural habitat. These sightings provide a peaceful and educational experience, especially for those interested in nature and conservation. The animals are often calm and move freely, allowing visitors to observe their natural behavior without disturbance. About Gaborone

Gaborone, capital of Botswana, is a young, low-rise city near the South African border, with a dam, a game reserve and a rocky hill within easy reach.

Gaborone was laid out in the 1960s to serve as the capital of newly independent Botswana, replacing Mafeking, which lay across the border in South Africa. It is named after Chief Gaborone of the Batlokwa and spreads low and green across a dry plain. At the Three Dikgosi Monument, statues of the chiefs Khama III, Sebele I and Bathoen I recall their 1895 journey to London to seek protection from Cecil Rhodes's company.
