1. In Amarante, we slow down and enjoy the authentic charm of northern Portugal. We walk through the historic center, cross the beautiful Ponte de São Gonçalo and visit the impressive Igreja e Convento de São Gonçalo, one of the town’s most iconic landmarks.

2. At Quinta de Santa Eufémia, guests enjoy an authentic and intimate wine tasting experience in the heart of the Douro Valley. During the tasting, I serve two exceptional Ports: a rich and elegant 20 Year Old Tawny Port, smooth and complex with notes of dried fruits, caramel, and subtle oak; and a beautifully balanced 10 Year Old White Port, fresh yet structured, with aromas of honey, nuts, and a long refined finish. While tasting, I explain the ageing process, the differences between styles, and the story of this family-owned estate that has been producing wine for generations — all enjoyed with breathtaking views over the Douro River and its terraced vineyards.

3. Lunch is served at the traditional Adega Popular, a welcoming local restaurant in the heart of Peso da Régua. Here we enjoy authentic regional cuisine, with homemade dishes prepared according to traditional Douro recipes. The menu often features local specialties such as grilled meats, codfish, or seasonal regional dishes, always accompanied by quality local wine from the Douro region. The atmosphere is relaxed and genuine, popular among locals, which makes the experience even more authentic. It’s the perfect moment to unwind, savor the flavors of the Douro, and experience true Portuguese hospitality before continuing our journey.

We make a short 10-minute stop at the stunning Miradouro de São Leonardo da Galafura, often called the “Heart of the Douro.” From this breathtaking viewpoint, you’ll admire the dramatic curves of the Douro River surrounded by terraced vineyards that stretch endlessly across the hills. As we gently sail through the calm waters, you’ll admire the breathtaking terraced vineyards climbing the hillsides — part of the UNESCO-listed Douro Valley landscape. From the river perspective, the region reveals a completely different and unforgettable beauty, with historic wine estates (quintas) and scenic curves of the valley surrounding us.
