Get to know The Netherlands in one day with 4 exceptional destinations Experience the very best of the Netherlands on this unforgettable full-day tour! Discover four unique destinations in a single day, each showcasing a different side of Dutch history, culture, and landscape. Stroll through the charming village of De Rijp, where beautifully preserved wooden houses line a picturesque canal. Step inside one of the country's most impressive historic windmills in Schermerhorn and learn how the Dutch mastered water management. Visit the authentic fishing village of Urk, with it's iconic white lighthouse, before travelling back in time in the beautifully preserved Hanseatic town of Elburg, with its cobbled streets, medieval walls, and rich history. This tour offers an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Netherlands.
We start this very diverse tour at the picturesque village of De Rijp. Here, we start the day with a pleasant morning walk along a canal with beautiful traditional wooden houses. The monumental buildings in this village are all from the Dutch Golden Age, including the impressive town hall. This feels like being in an open-air museum, but it is real!
It’s a short drive from DE RIJP to SCHERMERHORN, because what is a visit to The Netherlands without seeing the iconic windmills that made water into land? You’re in for a treat, because SCHERMERHORN is the home of three of the oldest and most beautiful traditional Dutch windmills. One mill is now a museum and you can explore it from top to bottom.
We'll continue the tour by driving east. After crossing the Houtribdijk, a 26-kilometer-long dam, you'll have free time for lunch at Batavia Stad.
We also stop by at the charming fishing village of Urk, where you’ll stroll along the lighthouse and the old church by the sea. This place used to be an island before the man-made province of Flevoland was created.
Last but not least we pay a visit to Elburg. The fifteenth-century entrance gate leads you into a medieval town where time stood still. The list of monuments you’ll find here is impressive and even parts of the old city wall remain.

Top-ranked sights in Amsterdam: Amstel River, Skinny Bridge (Magere Brug), Anne Frank House.
