Itinerario
You will be picked up from your hotel in the evening and driven to Khajurgaon Palace where a traditional Indian welcome awaits you. Khajurgaon Palace was constructed by His Royal Highness Rana Shankar Baksh Singh in 1896 and the main building is still in use by the family as their home. Khajurgaon Palace reflects a very strong British influence along with elements of native Awadhi architecture. It has a darbar hall (reception hall) with beautiful hand painted murals. Two generations of this family have been awarded the Knight Commander Indian Empire (KCIE) - by Queen Victoria in 1887 and by King George V in 1911. Before dinner spend some time with the Raja and his family ( subject to availability ) and learn about the former state of Awadh and present city Lucknow. Next enjoy authentic home-cooked Awadhi dinner prepared in the family kitchen. The Raja and his family look after visiting guests themselves and supervise each detail. About Lucknow
Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh, is a city of Nawabi palaces, grand imambaras and refined Awadhi cooking beside the Gomti River.
Lucknow was the capital of the Nawabs of Awadh in the 18th and 19th centuries, who left a city of domes, gateways and gardens. The Bara Imambara, built in the 1780s, has a vast vaulted hall and an upper labyrinth, the Bhul Bhulaiya, and the Rumi Darwaza, a towering gate, stands nearby. The Chota Imambara, the Husainabad clock tower and the Residency, whose ruins carry the marks of the siege of 1857, complete a historic circuit.
