In evidenza

Step back in time for a memorable journey through Aotearoa New Zealand’s maritime and cultural past by visiting Butler Point, one of Northland’s most unique attractions. Located in the stunning Doubtless Bay area, this historic property is home to the renowned Butler Point Whaling Museum which contains one of the best private collections of whaling artefacts in the country. Explore the beautifully preserved 1840s homestead, the residence of Captain William Butler and family, and imagine life as it was for early settlers in the Far North. Wander through your award-winning coastal gardens, proudly recognised as a Garden of Significance by the New Zealand Gardens Trust (5-star rated). Enjoy the the peace of these park-like grounds and your majestic 900 year old pohutukawa tree. You’ll also discover a well interpreted and significant Māori Pā site that offers insight into the area’s earlier history and connection to local iwi.
