In evidenza

Calakmul is remote: that's why it is extraordinary and that's why solving it yourself is complicated. Forget renting a car, looking for a guide, or the long return. Choose your experience, where we pick you up, and book: your day is sorted. Travel to the World Heritage site of Calakmul, a Mayan city surrounded by protected jungle, with a professional guide; we handle transportation and logistics. Three clear options, no fine print: Archaeological Zone Only; Ruins + Jungle Walk; or Ruins + Walk + Bat Cave (3+ million bats at sunset). Pickup in Bacalar, Xpujil, Chetumal, and Xul-Ha; delivery to another point at no extra cost. Price focused on the essentials: transport, guide, and activities, no extras. Tickets are paid separately on site; we tell you before you book, hiding nothing. It is a long day; with Bat Cave it extends until sunset. Wildlife is not guaranteed. Without guessing what it includes. No puzzles. Without unnecessary extras.

Itinerario

  1. We begin the pick-up and then we head towards the Calakmul Reserve, the trip is 3 hours. Once in the reserve we will have a scenic drive through the low tropical jungle for approximately 1.5 hours and will only stop briefly in case of wildlife sightings. After crossing the jungle we will explore the Archaeological Zone of Calakmul Mixed Heritage of Humanity according to UNESCO. We explore the areas open to visitors, such as the civic and ceremonial center, the tallest structures over 50 meters high, the solar observatory of equinoxes and solstices, among other multiple uses. Many of the buildings can be climbed, so it is still possible to see the view that previously only the kings and most powerful of the city could see. During the walk you will be accompanied by a guide who will share information related to this world-renowned park that was once the most feared and glorified Mayan settlement.

About Bacalar

Bacalar is a quiet lakeside town in Quintana Roo, beside a long freshwater lagoon of shifting blues known as the Lake of Seven Colours.

Bacalar sits on the western shore of a lagoon about forty kilometres long in the south of Quintana Roo, close to the border with Belize. The water, shallow over white sand and deeper in places, shades from pale turquoise to deep blue, giving the lagoon its name, the Lake of Seven Colours. The Fort of San Felipe, built in the eighteenth century to guard the lagoon from pirates, stands above the town square and holds a small museum.

Top-ranked sights in Bacalar: Lake Bacalar, Cenote de la Bruja, Fuerte San Felipe.
