  • 1Avoid the experience packages at Amchong Tea Estate

We booked the Black Diamond Tour Package, expecting a premium experience, but it turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of our trip. We spent nearly two hours at the estate, and most of that time was wasted sitting on a bench in the waiting area. We were traveling with our two young children (ages 2 and 5), who understandably became cranky after such a long and unnecessary wait. When it became clear that we weren’t receiving the experience we had paid for, I politely requested to switch to a lower tour package and receive a refund of the difference. Despite the long wait and poor service, my request was refused. After all that waiting, we were finally taken to the tea tasting room, where the service continued to be slow and inattentive. The estate tour itself was underwhelming and added very little value. It certainly wasn’t worth the premium price. My advice is simple: avoid all of their tour packages. Once you’ve paid in advance, there seems to be very little incentive for them to provide good service. If you still want to visit the estate, order food or tea à la carte instead of committing to a prepaid tour package. Premium prices should come with premium hospitality. Instead, we experienced long waits, poor service, and a complete lack of customer care. We left feeling ignored, frustrated, and convinced that we had wasted both our time and money.

We were a group of 11 adults and 2 children who visited Amchong Resort for a day outing. While we appreciated your infrastructure, our experience was spoiled by the extremely rude and unprofessional behaviour of your manager, Mr. Pravin. His attitude was completely inappropriate for someone in the hospitality industry. We paid ₹3,053 for just three cups of tea and potato fingers without any complaint. While planning our lunch, we were told that orders could only be taken inside and that we had to book a table. However, after paying the snack bill, when we requested your staff to reserve a table for lunch, we were refused and told that a table could only be booked when we returned for lunch. This contradictory approach created unnecessary confusion and inconvenience. As a result, we cancelled our lunch plan at your resort and went to Mayfair instead. Kindly review your CCTV footage to verify that our group behaved respectfully throughout. We hope you will look into this matter and ensure that such behaviour is not repeated with future guests.

About Guwahati

Guwahati is Assam's largest city, on the Brahmaputra River, with hilltop temples, a river-island shrine and the gateway to Kaziranga and the north-east.

Guwahati spreads along the south bank of the Brahmaputra River, ringed by green hills, and is the gateway to India's north-east. On Nilachal Hill, the Kamakhya Temple is one of the most revered Shakta shrines in India and draws many pilgrims, especially at the Ambubachi festival in June. Umananda, a small Shiva temple, sits on Peacock Island in the middle of the river and is reached by ferry.
