Itinerario

This glacial lake, lying 50 km North of Milan and close to the Swiss-Italian border, has always had a strong appeal for artists and tourists. Since the Roman age, it has been a leisure location for aristocrats and still, due to the quite impervious configuration, it has not been reached by the mass tourism. It shows a characteristic "Y" shape, dividing itself into the "Como branch" (South-West), the "Lecco branch" (South-East) and the "Colico basin" (North).

About Lake Como

Lake Como is a deep, Y-shaped lake in Lombardy, ringed by steep green mountains, pastel villages, ornate villas and terraced gardens.

Lake Como is shaped like an upside-down Y, with three arms that meet near Bellagio. At more than 400 metres deep, it is one of the deepest lakes in Europe, held between steep wooded slopes that rise towards the Alps. Villages with painted houses and small harbours stand along the water, and a network of ferries links them, making a boat the best way to see the shoreline.
