5. You will also make a quick stop at Ponta da Lagoinha, a place that bordered with Africa in Pangea era. It is hidden between the beaches of Foca and Ferradura and accessible by a small trail (500 meters). The geological importance of the area - and its preservation - is so great that, in 2003, the government of the State of Rio de Janeiro toppled the tip and its rocky shores. An explanatory sign on the site informs about the formations and their curiosities, among them, the action of waves and tides to sculpt the granite.

About Búzios

Búzios is a peninsula of rocky coves, calm beaches and a whitewashed old fishing village on the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, east of the city.

Armação dos Búzios occupies a small peninsula with more than twenty beaches, from Geribá, popular with surfers, to the sheltered horseshoe bay of Ferradura. The old fishing village was little known until the 1960s, when the French actress Brigitte Bardot visited, and a statue of her now sits on the seafront promenade named after her. The Rua das Pedras, a cobbled street of shops and restaurants, is the village's main street.
