  • 5Good value for money trip. Must do. And then have a guided tour of Ross castle in the same area

Was cancelled originally because of bad weather. But we went next day on the same ticket. The boat is covered like a bus without side deck area. Perfect for viewing. Easy to ge on and off of. Not too much use. Life vest available if you wished to wear one. Perfect morning sight seeing

  • 2Disappointing

The boat was very tatty and had clearly seen better days. Young children refused to sit down when told to and drowned out the commentary. Weather was awful but nobody's fault. That's Ireland for you!

  • 4Fine for a chill day

Quick boat ride around the lake. It’s very quiet and chill. It would not be very good for little kids. There isn’t anything to do. The commentary was good and informative but I don’t know if it’s worth the time.

  • 5One hour lake cruise

The one hour on the lake is on an enclosed single level cruise ferry with sliding windows and an open aft. The captain is the only crew member and gives a very informative commentary as we sail at a leisurely pace around the upper and middle lakes. Fabulous views and good ramp access. Goes on the hour from next to the castle.

About Killarney

Killarney is a small County Kerry town beside a national park of lakes, mountains and old woodland, and the usual start of the Ring of Kerry.

Killarney National Park, on the town's doorstep, takes in three lakes and ancient oak and yew woods, with the MacGillycuddy's Reeks rising to the west, where Carrauntoohil is the highest mountain in Ireland. Muckross House is a Victorian mansion with gardens on a lake shore, Muckross Abbey is a ruined friary, Ross Castle stands on the water, and Torc Waterfall drops through the woods. The park shelters Ireland's only native herd of red deer.
