  • 5An Unforgettable Adventure to Kalandula Falls and Pedras Negras

This tour was one of the absolute highlights of our visit to Angola! From start to finish, everything was exceptionally well organized and exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Gino, was outstanding—professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing Angola's history, culture, and natural wonders. At every stop, he provided fascinating insights that made the experience both educational and unforgettable. His enthusiasm and attention to detail truly elevated the tour. Kalandula Falls is simply breathtaking. Standing before one of Africa's largest waterfalls was a humbling and awe-inspiring experience. The beauty and power of the falls are difficult to describe—you have to see them to truly appreciate them. Pedras Negras was equally impressive. Learning about its connection to Queen Nzinga while exploring the dramatic rock formations made this visit especially meaningful. The scenery is spectacular, and the history adds another dimension to this remarkable destination. The meals were excellent, and the restaurants were very accommodating of my vegetarian diet. Our stay at Pousada Calandula, right across from the Kalandula Falls was another pleasant surprise. The accommodations were excellent, the setting was beautiful, and the staff was welcoming, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. All rooms had a view of the falls, simply magical. For anyone planning to take the hike to the base of the falls or explore the trails around Pedras Negras, I highly recommend bringing sturdy hiking or walking shoes. The terrain can be uneven and sometimes slippery, but the incredible views are absolutely worth the effort. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Angola. It offers the perfect combination of spectacular scenery, fascinating history, outstanding service, and genuine Angolan hospitality. It is an experience we will never forget.

  • 5The best thing to do in Angola

This is an amazing tour, so worth the money. We went with Etson who is very knowledgeable as a guid but most importantly very good at dealing with people. The drive is long but so worthy, and Etson was a very skilled driver. Then in the afternoon we did a hike. For this, prepare with good hiking shoes as it can be slippery. Overall, the sights, people, accommodation, FOOD, everything was absolutely perfect. Not one negative thing to say.

  • 5A gorgeous tour very well guided

The two days tour to Calandula Falls is very well conceived by Luzaya and really gorgeous. It was led by Etson, a very kind, competent, and well-informed guide. On the first day we had lunch at the nice town of N' Dalatando visiting the beautiful Botanical Garden (unfortunately badly kept by the local authorities). Arrived at majestatic Calandula Falls, the second largest in Africa, we visited two impressive View Points near the Pousada (placed in optimal position just in front of the waterfall). On the second day we took a look at the big rock formation of Pedras Negras, and we have made a small boat tour at Kwanza river. As an extra offered by Etson, we visited Massangano, which was the capital of Portuguese Angola during the Dutch occupation of Luanda, dominated by a XVI century fort and a big church. It was really a fantastic tour very well guided!

  • 5A 5-Diamond Journey to Calendula Falls! One of the Most Beautiful Experiences of My Life

The overnight tour to Calendula Falls in Malange was truly extraordinary. From the moment we left Luanda, the entire experience felt like a moving glimpse into the heartbeat of Angola. We drove through several cities and towns, witnessing life shift from the fast-paced rhythm of the capital to the slower, peaceful cadence of rural villages a contrast that made the journey as meaningful as the destination. The botanical gardens were lush and calming, but nothing compares to that first breathtaking moment when Calendula Falls comes into view. It’s pure natural beauty on an almost spiritual level — powerful, untouched, and unforgettable. The guided hike from the falls to the hotel took about an hour across challenging terrain, and with good boots and expert guidance, it became one of those adventures that makes you feel vibrantly alive. The hotel and food provided the perfect warmth and comfort afterward, a soft landing after an exhilarating day. One of the absolute highlights was lunch along the Kwanza River, where we enjoyed fresh fish prepared right on the spot. Eating that meal surrounded by nature felt authentic, peaceful, and deeply connected to Angola’s culinary and cultural roots. The next morning’s hike to the Black Rocks added even more magic dramatic landscapes, unique formations, and a sense of quiet power that made the experience feel almost otherworldly. Yes, the drive is long about seven hours each way but the scenic stops and thoughtful pacing made it smooth, enjoyable, and part of the adventure itself. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Angola. It’s beautifully curated, deeply enriching, and something I can’t wait to experience again

  • 5Luanda city tour + Calandula Falls overnight

I had a great tour with Luzaya in Angola. My first day I did a city tour of Luanda where my guide was Danny. It was a great and informative tour. I then did a two-day trip to Calandula Falls with my guide Etson who was also fantastic. The falls are a long trip but it’s so spectacular and worth it. This company also provided very reasonable prices compared to others I saw. All meals were included too. Highly recommend!

About Luanda

Luanda, the capital of Angola, curves around an Atlantic bay, with a seafront avenue, a sixteenth-century fort and a sandy island of beach restaurants.

The Portuguese founded Luanda in 1576, and the city now spreads along a sheltered bay on Angola's Atlantic coast, its modern towers rising behind the Marginal, the broad waterfront avenue. The Fortaleza de São Miguel, a hilltop fort from the founding years, looks over the bay and now holds a military museum. The old upper town around the cathedral keeps a few colonial streets among the newer districts.
