  • 5A must in Pondicherry!

This is an absolute must in Pondicherry! Manisha is a wonderful host and after meeting she led us through the maze of the Goubert market and showed us so many amazing things. She made suggestions about a menu aligned to our tastes and then we picked up the ingredients fresh. She led us through each recipe (we made several dishes) step by step and the resulting meal was out of this world. She is such a kind, outgoing and accommodating lady and it was a real delight to be in her company and learn how to make authentic Indian food. The paneer butter masala in particular was incredible!

  • 5We had an amazing South Indian cooking experience with Manisha — a professional, warm, and joyful chef. h

We had a wonderful South Indian cooking class with Manisha, and it was an outstanding experience from beginning to end. Manisha is a professional chef — warm, energetic, and full of smiles. She took us on a guided tour of the local market, explaining everything we saw along the way. Together we chose the dishes we wanted to cook and bought all the ingredients accordingly. After the market visit, we were welcomed into her beautiful home in Pondicherry, a place filled with a strong spiritual atmosphere, with images of Sri Aurobindo and Mirra Alfassa. We cooked together step by step, while Manisha patiently explained every detail and generously shared her knowledge throughout the entire process. We were a group of ten women on a spiritual journey along the yoga path, and we truly enjoyed every moment. This was actually the second time I organized a cooking experience with Manisha for a group I was guiding, and both times the experience was exceptional. Highly recommended — a meaningful, joyful, and authentic experience. Definitely worth it!

  • 5An evening of culinarily delight with a wonderful teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

The previous day I had been on the cycle tour with Manisha, and she asked me about my preferences for ingredients. On arrival for my class the next evening she had indeed been out and bought fresh prawns along with other ingredients. I was very pleased to be cooking a prawn curry, a lentil dahl, a vegetable dish and rohti. I learnt techniques and tips that were new to me including making and cooking the rohti. Manisha created a relaxed atmosphere and I was very comfortable to get stuck in from preparing and chopping along with everything else involved to cook a delicious meal.

  • 5Unique experience

It was a great experience with Manisha. First we bought the ingredients at the local market, where Manisha showed and explained us all different kind of vegetables (that I’ve never seen before). After that we cooked at her place which was really fun and finally enjoyed the food that we have cooked.

  • 5Nice class that can also adjust to your specific expectations

The cooking class is great. You will first visit the market where you can see and learn much more than only cooking related things about south india. Afterwards you take a rickshaw to Manisha's house. There you will start by cleaning and cutting the vegetables. Afterwards she will show you the steps and you will cook together on what you decided before. She does multiple dishes so that you get to see several different things, but you can also remember the most important steps that are always the same. After eating your cooked meals Manisha can also provide you with valuable recommendations for your further visit to Puducherry. If you want to cook something specific, tell Manisha in advance, and she will adjust to that.

About Pondicherry

Pondicherry, also called Puducherry, is a former French colony on the Bay of Bengal, with a seafront promenade, yellow villas and Auroville nearby.

Pondicherry, renamed Puducherry in 2006, lies on the Coromandel Coast of south-east India and was ruled by France until the 1950s. Its French Quarter, known as White Town, has a grid of tree-lined streets with ochre and pale-yellow colonial villas hung with bougainvillea, and a promenade along the sea where a statue of Gandhi stands. The Sacred Heart Basilica and the Immaculate Conception Cathedral give the quarter a skyline of church towers.
