Lepakshi is a quaint little village located in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is home to several temples dedicated to the Hindu Gods Shiva, Vishnu and Veerabhadra. The temples were constructed between the 14th and 17th century and showcase the Vijaynagar style of architecture. On this day-excursion visit the famous Veerabhadra temple and some other historical sites. Highlights: • Largest statue of Nandi bull • Nagalingam, sculpture of a snake entwined around a giant lingam • Hanging pillar
You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning for a two and a half hour drive to Lepakshi. Stop for breakfast at a local restaurant en route. On reaching Lepakshi head off to see the largest statue of the Nandi bull in India. The 15 feet high statue is carved out of a single rock of granite. Considered to be the vehicle of the Hindu God Shiva, the Nandi bull is often found at the entrance of temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Next take lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant. After lunch, visit the Veerabhadra Temple. This temple has some beautiful sculptures adorning its walls. One of the most famous sculptures is that of a snake entwined around the lingam. A rock chain and a hanging pillar are also to be seen here. The ceiling of the temple is covered with paintings. After the visit to the temple, spend some time walking around the nearby sites that house the Mukha Mandapa - a venue for dances and other social activities - and the Artha Mandapa - the place of royal worship. At the end of the tour, you will be driven back to Bangalore and dropped-off at your hotel.

Bangalore, or Bengaluru, is the garden city of southern India, a technology hub of parks, palaces, pubs and filter coffee on a cool plateau.
Bengaluru, long known in English as Bangalore, is the capital of Karnataka and sits on a plateau about 900 metres up, which gives it a mild climate. The city's nickname, the Garden City, comes from public parks like Cubbon Park and the Lalbagh Botanical Garden, where a glasshouse modelled on London's Crystal Palace holds flower shows. The Vidhana Soudha, the state legislature, is one of its grandest buildings.
Top-ranked sights in Bangalore: Vidhana Soudha, KR Market (Krishnarajendra City Market), Lalbagh Botanical Gardens.
