About Veracruz
Veracruz is a Gulf of Mexico port, a hot, musical harbour city of colonnaded squares, a sea fortress, milky coffee and a big pre-Lent carnival.
Veracruz traces its name to the settlement Hernán Cortés founded in 1519, and its harbour made it the main port of colonial Mexico on the Gulf coast.
