  1. Belfast and Derry contain arguably the most famous political murals in Europe. It is believed that almost 2,000 murals have been documented since the 1970s. In 2014, the book, The Belfast Mural Guide estimated that, in Belfast, there were approximately 300 quality murals on display, with many more in varying degrees of age and decay.

  4. Belfast Castle (Irish: Caisleán Bhéal Feirste[2][3]) is a mansion located in Cave Hill Country Park in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in a prominent position 400 feet (120 m) above sea level. Its location provides unobstructed views over the City of Belfast and Belfast Lough.[3][4][5] There have been several different structures called 'Belfast Castle' over the centuries, located on different sites.[6] The current 'castle' is a Victorian structure, built between 1867 and 1870 on the slopes of Cave Hill, and is listed as being Grade B+.[1][7][8] The main entrance into the Belfast Castle Demesne is now where Innisfayle Park meets Downview Park West, just off the Antrim Road (part of the A6). The original main entrance into the current demesne was formerly on the Antrim Road itself, where Strathmore Park now meets the Antrim Road.[9]

About Belfast

Belfast is Northern Ireland's capital, a harbour city between hills and lough, known for shipbuilding, Victorian pubs, murals and the Titanic story.

Belfast grew with the linen and shipbuilding trades, and the giant yellow cranes of the old shipyard still stand over the docks where the Titanic was built and launched in 1911. The Titanic Quarter now holds a large museum on that story. In the centre, the domed City Hall, completed in 1906, stands in a square of Victorian and Edwardian buildings, and the Cathedral Quarter has cobbled lanes and old pubs.

Top-ranked sights in Belfast: Giant's Causeway, Dunluce Castle, Dark Hedges.
