Destacados

Unique for this trip is that travelers will get a taste of Icelandic nature, birds, and wildlife. It is a big part of the experience to take a look at the river on the way to the sea The maximum number of travelers in each trip is 8 persons and they will get personal guidance on the trip and can ask questions if they need and get personal answers from a local guide who is living in this area. Travelers will also get information about the culture in the same area. An example experience is to take a look at the waterfall in the area before or after this trip and look at the Glacier River Jökulsá á Fjöllum in Vatnajökull National Park and see where the river is falling down to the sea with all the Seals and birdlife. How the river has through the years shaped the area. Example of a waterfall in this area is Dettifoss, Selfoss, and Hafragilsfoss that is a well-known waterfalls. Just contact us if you are in bigger groups than 8 and we will plan a trip for you.

About Reykjahlíð

Reykjahlíð is the main village on Lake Mývatn in northern Iceland, a base for lava fields, steaming geothermal ground and big waterfalls.

Reykjahlíð lies on the north-east shore of Lake Mývatn, in a volcanic landscape of lava, craters and hot ground about 54 km east of Akureyri. Lava from the Mývatn Fires of the 1720s flowed through this district, and the village church is said to have been spared in 1729 when a flow divided around it. The lake's name means midge lake, for the clouds of harmless midges that hover over the water in summer.
