Qué hacer en Islas Caimán

The Cayman Islands are three low coral islands in the western Caribbean, a British territory known for long beaches, clear water and diving.

The territory is made up of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, south of Cuba. Grand Cayman holds almost all the people and the capital, George Town, a small harbour town of low buildings, a national museum and a waterfront for visiting ships. Seven Mile Beach, a long arc of white sand along the west coast, is lined with resorts, cafés and beach bars.

Stingray City, a shallow sandbar in the North Sound, lets visitors stand among stingrays in waist-deep water, and the reef walls off Grand Cayman and Little Cayman are well known to divers. The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park shelters the rare blue iguana, and the Crystal Caves, Rum Point and the Mastic Trail show the island's inland side. Cayman Brac rises to a limestone bluff at its eastern end.

Fish rundown, a stew of local fish simmered in coconut milk with breadfruit and plantain, is a Caymanian favourite, along with conch, jerk dishes and spiny lobster. Pirates Week in November turns George Town into a harbour party with parades and fireworks. The dry, cooler months run from December to April.
